April 2016 News

Social Action tries to help people in short term and long term ways.

Please consider joining us in any way you can.

Gary Freeman and Marty Zeldis are the new co-chairs of the Committee.

We work at the the New London Soup Kitchen for one dinner a month on the third Tuesday of the month. If you are interested in helping please contact Hali Keeler at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

In conjunction with Beth-El we do one Sunday Build a month with Habitat for Humanity. Our next Builds are April 10, May 15 and June 5. If you are interested, please contact Marty Zeldis at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

We are also involved with the New London Homeless Shelter. If interested in volunteering, please contact Judy Mann at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The Social Action Committee sponsors the Temple Emanu-el Mitzvah Corps. Please consider joining the Mitzvah Corps. We try to meet the needs of Temple Members from providing rides to doctor's appointments to preparing meals or visiting with congregants. If you are interested there are Mitzvah Corps forms near the front entrance of the Temple.

Finally, the Social Action Committee is planning a Social Action Service and a Mitzvah Day in May. Join us.

Thank You for Mitzvah Day Help

The SAC thanks all who participated in Mitzvah Day on May 17th at the temple, by giving or sorting. We collected and sorted lots of items for people in need at the New London Homeless shelter and at Safe Futures in New London. These donations were very much appreciated.

Kudos to all the participants in the Walkathon for Hunger on Sunday afternoon in Norwich.

Thank you again,

Cécile Feldman
SA chair
