2015 Retreat: "Let There Be Light"

Shine a light, shine a new light….. CandleInHands that is just what we did at the joint retreat with Temple Sholom during Chanukah last month!

We let a new light shine over our two congregations and enjoyed a weekend of prayer, learning, singing, dancing, games, crafts, and, of course, food!  We are very fortunate to have two rabbi’s, Scott Saulson and Ari Rosenberg, whose forward thinking provided an opportunity for our congregations to not only learn, but create programming where we could interact with each other, have fun, and make new friends in the process.  Programs like this benefit everyone who attends, including the kids.  The skit they put together to entertain us with was charming!  Programming was packed, but there was still time to relax on a hike or take a shabbos snooze.  The amazingly warm weather allowed the hike to the lake to be such a pleasure.  I think the havdallah/bonfire was a highlight for me.  We lit the havdallah candle, including the ones we had made, sang the blessings, made smores, and sang some more.   The staff at the Interlaken Inn couldn’t have been better and all the food was farm to table.  I hope that next year we are able to set aside the money in our budget, so this program can happen again.  I look forward to seeing the new friends I made and hope that we can have even more congregants join us.  It really was a wonderful weekend and I appreciate everyone from Temple Emanu-El and Temple Sholom who joined us on this adventure.
